Dwhelper Firefox

DownloadHelper is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.

This is a Chrome port of the very popular Video DownloadHelper Firefox add-on. It allows downloading videos from many sites. Video DownloadHelper supports a number of additional features: - Smart naming: the ability to automatically name the downloaded video as the original file name, the title of the page, any portion of text in the page or an obfuscated file name for better privacy. In order to capture a moving video, the browser needs to refresh the region being captured. However, in some situations, Firefox/Flash does not render the image in order to save normally-unneeded CPU. This is the case when the tab you are capturing from is no longer active (the current tab is another one), or if Firefox is minimized on the desktop.

Video DownloadHelper Editor's Review

Video DownloadHelper is a nifty little gizmo that will help you to download all kinds of video content and other images to your computer. For example, if you see your brother’s home movie on YouTube and you’d like to keep a copy for posterity, then this piece of software will make your life very easy. It works with a whole host of other sites too, so you can pull stuff from the likes of Vimeo, iFilm, Google and MySpace.
Pros: It’s a very handy little add on and if you like downloading video, then this piece of free software will help you to do it. Because you can choose the file quality and also download a file at a time, then it shouldn’t slow down your other programmes or cause crashes.
Cons: The latest version of Video DownloadHelper isn’t the most intuitive piece of software you’ll ever come across. It doesn’t need a degree in rocket science to use it, but you might need to look up a quick demo video first.
Conclusion: Video DownloadHelper is free and fairly simple to use once you’ve got the hang of it. You’re probably going to need to spend a little time orientating yourself and figuring out how to use the programme. But it’s well worth investing a little time and effort because in return, you’ll be able download videos quickly and easily.
